| The state of Bahia |
Due to its size and geographic diversity, the state of Bahia is worth a single trip. Along its coastline, approximately 1,000 kilometres, you will find three archipelagos (Bahía de Todos os Santos, Tinharé Archipelago, and Camamu Bay) featuring coral reefs, and Abrolhos National Park, a favourite destination for diving enthusiasts.
Boipeda Island, the Maraú Peninsula, Trancoso, and Ponta de Corumbau are just a few of the gems that the Bahian coast offers to sea-loving travellers. What Bahia is rife with is history and culture. Salvador is the “Black Rome”, the first capital of the colony, and the cradle of Brazil and Afro-Brazilian culture.
The Reĉoncavo Baiano region was the first major hub for sugarcane production and the concentration of enslaved Africans, whose influence has deeply shaped the local culture. Indeed, Bahian gastronomy, considered one of the richest and most distinctive in Brazil, is heavily influenced by African traditions. In the heart of the state, the Chapada Diamantina National Park is a true ecological paradise, an ideal destination for those who love trekking and adventure in close contact with nature.
